Scrambling for time this week and didn’t get to record a Media Pit ep as planned. Not to leave you without anything to put in your ears, I had some thoughts that have been rattling around in my head and what better place to get those out into the universe than in another Cat 5 episode. Why Cat 5? Because the goal is to keep it around 35 minutes. As a bit of disclaimer, this episode is me talking off the top of my head. No notes are script. My thoughts are fluid. They may change down the road. Or tomorrow. But here’s where I’m at today. Thanks for listening.

Zach Schuster, editor of Cyclocross Magazine, and I find a semi-quiet corner of the Jingle Cross media room to talk about the US World Cups and the state of cyclocross overall. We both fought the urge just to interview each other and instead had a nice conversation that I'm certain you're going to enjoy.

Hello cyclocross friends! It's been a while since our last episode, so we wanted to come out of the gates strong. For this week's Crosshairs Radio we chat with the original young gun, the boy wonder, an guaranteed hall of famer who may need a parent or guardian to gain admission to the hall of fame, Mathieu van der Poel. MTB, CX, road, MX, we cover it all in a compact conversation from the inside of the Corendon-Circus camper in Vallnord, Andorra.

For the second half of the show, it's a conversation with Christopher Blevins, who is the current U23 CX National Champ and the 2017 U23 MTB National Champ. In 2018, Chris dipped his foot in the elite waters and ended up on the podium in third. We talk about his life as a bike racer, balancing road, MTB and cyclocross ... and we talk about music.

This episode is brought to you by our partnership with Grimpeur Bros and the amazingly tasty Full Schleck blend. You can get these tasty and possibly magical beans here: https://www.grimpeurbros.com/products/wap-coffee.

For episode 96 of Crosshairs Radio, Ben Frederick returns for an unprecedented 4-peat. Bill and Ben sat down in front of an amazing audience at Rapha's DC Pop Up in Georgetown. We talked about Ben's continuing recovery from the TBI he suffered last year, the slowlife and art, and his work developing events and providing stoke for the DC Rapha location.

Huge thanks to Rapha for hosting the event and being a great partner in these live podcasts. Thanks also to Sol Schott for making the evening awesome with Acme Pie.

If you are unfamiliar with Ben or his story from aspiring professional racer to ongoing recovery from TBI, here are his first three appearances on the show (Eps 9, 20 and 56):
